VARIABLE SPACE PATROL CRAFT

BACKGROUND

The Variable Space Patrol Craft is the sole variable craft used by the New Macross Class Colony Fleet Police that is limited to New Macross Fleet Police only. Designed to patrol the space around the outside of the City blocks, and the Milky Road the Space Patrol craft is identical to the Air Patrol Craft except that its air turbines have been replaced by rocket motor thrusters which permit the patrol craft to move fast when needed to. Where as the Variable Fighter Squadrons of the UN Spacy are the first line of defence against threats to the city blocks, the Space Patrol Craft are the last line of defence against external threats in addition to the civilian police duties. Like its Air Patrol counterpart the Space Patrol Craft has three modes. A Space Patrol Craft Mode, Gerwalk Mode, and Battloid Mode. Although it features the Battloid/Walker mode it is rarely used during its duties except on occasion when it lands. The Space Patrol Craft features a crew of two consisting of a pilot and co-pilot in a pressurised and armoured bubble cockpit.

(1)
Depleting the MDC of the main body will destroy the vehicle. The reinforced pilots compartment is designed to withstand damage that destroys the main body of the vehicle. However if the main body damage overflows to in excess of the crew compartment MDC then that also will be destroyed and the crew will be killed,as the cockpit does not feature any form of ejection devices.

WEAPON SYSTEMS:

  1. GUNPOD: Recessed within the right side of the vehicle the Space Patrol Crafts gunpod is identical in design, (although on a smaller scale,) to the VF-11 Thunderbolts Gunpod. They both use the same calibre of round and have comparable ranges of fire, however the Space Patrol Craft being smaller with a smaller gunpod has half the ammunition of the VF-11;s Gunpod, and has no provisions for spare clips. The gunpod must be reloaded back at the crafts base of operations when it is empty.

  2. HAND TO HAND COMBAT: If necessary, the pilot of the craft can engage in melee combat rather than use a weapon. Although not particularly agile by VF standards the Variable Space Patrol Craft is more agile than some other variable craft which assists it in close confines, and allows it to execute most typical hand to hand combat moves, such as punches and kicks, rolling with impacts, etc.
